The Commission strives to be an exemplary government agency with its core values being:

  • To Responsibly carry out its legally assigned functions.
  • To always act to promote confidence in its work by the various stakeholders through their interaction with the Commission staff.
  • To value its staff and seek to get them fully engaged with the Commission’s mission and vision statements.
  • To regulate in a fair and consistent manner.
  • The promotion of safety culture within itself and strive for instilling undertakings to adopt such a culture.

In order to deliver these core values the Commission has developed a quality system through a project financed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) together with the help of the Icelandic Radiation Safety Authority.

The Commission’s quality system ensures the systematic carrying out of the functions and the operation of the Commission and its executive arm, the Secretariat.
